Jailbreak iPhone Help!?

Ok so i just got the iPhone 4s ans i want to jailbreak it. Its version 5.1.1 and i was just wondering if i want to update to version iOS 6 can i just restore it and it will update or will it just stay version 5.1.1 forever?
