When caught driving with a G1, is your license automatically suspended?

I live in Toronto, ON. Is it suspended at that moment or do you wait until the interview? I got caught driving with a G1 alone on June 19 and I have my card and have been driving but is it suspended right now? Does time with a suspended G1 count as time towards getting your G2?
