If I change my Tracfone number, can my old number still be traced to my name?

I won't go into details...but I'll just tell you I am asking this due to the fall out after an EXTREMELY nasty break-up with my ex-girlfriend. What I want to know is if I change my number, can someone still find out my who owned the old number or does that info just disappear. There were some nasty calls and some arguments with a few people in the process. And she's in jail for a few months over some nonsense. The break-up was that bad. It was Jerry Springer material. :/ I just want to get away from the whole situation and not be found again.
