How to breed goldfish?

Simple and straightforward question! How to breed goldfish: both fancy round bodied type; and the natural looking commons, comets, and shubunkins... What are the requirements? And I once heard you have to put the couple in a shallow tank/ pond and gradually add water everyday to simulate rain... Is that true? Thank you :)
