Why do people not get this about movies today?

Movies are not supposed to be about technology. Yes it's good to maybe have some technology and special effects, but overall that is not the point. Movies have to have a good story, good character development, good dialogue, that sometimes people will remember, good actors, AND they have to be realistic. You look at the movies from the 30s to now, the movies back then had those qualities. Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, and many more. And I know that Hollywood is running out of ideas, but it's like they are not even trying to make a good film. I mean come on, Battleship? And the movies that are good are reboots usually, not something original. Will Hollywood go back to the ways of the past or continue to follow the path they are on now? Give me some arguments with logic and information that backs that logic. AND am I wrong?
