If you have a red Tint to your hair and you still go blonde?

Basically I dyed hair using home dye it was meant to be purple but it came out more red that anything. Once it faded a lot, I got my hair dyed a dark brown at the hairdressers. As the brown is fading I've got a red tint to my hair, but I really want to get a full set of blonde highlights! Will it be able to? Or do I have to completely get rid of the red?
