malfunction indicator light is on in my chrysler 2007 sebring?

so my mil just turned on today and i'm not sure why. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, it rained super hard today, and i was about to drop a friend off. We got to talking a while so my foot was on the brake for about 6 min i would say (don't know if that might play a part or not, though i don't see why it would) but afterwards about 40 seconds into driving to a stop sign and stopping, my brakes locked up and i couldn't move the shifter. the check engine oil light came on, then i turned the car off and back on and it worked again. but i noticed the mil turned on. i got home and turned the car off and on, then noticed that the mil only stays on when i have the key in the ignition and not actually turned on. When i crank it the light turns off. Ideas of what could be wrong??
