XFX Radeon HD 7950 DD 3GB will work with PCI-Express x16 1.0 ?

Hi I have just ordered a XFX HD 7950 DD 3GB graphics card and i have a PCI Express x16 1.0 slot on my motherboard my specs are : 8gb ddr3 ram 1045t amd phennom II x6 OC To 3Ghz 500gb seagate barracuda 7200 rpm harddrive xfx HD 6790 1GB And my motherboard is a asrock n68c-s If someone could tell me if its compatible or not i keep seeing that people have got the 7000 series cards to work and some people say that its impossible but last time i checked PCI E 3.0 cards were backwards compatible?
