Youtube reset my account when I opted to keep using my username and NOT my real name?

I got this pop up where it gave me an option to keep using my real name in Youtube or keep using my user ID. I opted to keep using my user ID and then it took me to the introductory Youtube page. Then I realized my Youtube has been reset. ALL of my favorites, subscriptions, likes, etc are gone even though I am logged into same Youtube account I always used. Any thoughts or ideas on how I can resolve this?
