Where can I share my stories that i write?

I am kinda writing a story (i would hope to publish it one day). But I often mind myself wanting feedback. I don't want to ask close friends because I'm afraid they won't be brutal enough when telling me how they feel. Where can I post it? I know this is a stupid question/comment, but I don't want anyone stealing the plot of the story, does that happen? Where can I post it so that does not happen?
