How to stop talking to my crush?

Well I met this guy at an academic contest and I was blown away by him. Then things got weird and I friended him on Facebook and we have been chatting for a little less than a month. He had started messaging me first. I sometimes initiate the conversations, but it's mostly him. He kinda flirted with me, but I am clueless and so is he. Today I had asked him to a dance but he couldn't go. So then we talked for 4 hours after that and I had made it obvious that I like him, yet it seemed like he was trying to stay 'friends' or was clueless. I feel like a flaming idiot. I wan t to stop this nonsense. How do I stop talking to him?
