How long does it take for a soft tissue injury to heal?

I injured my anklefoot about 2 months ago, and after 1 week of severe pain I went to urgent care. They took a x-ray and it was not broken. They said I have a soft tissue injury to my foot, my school's basketball season starts in 3 weeks, and I really really want to do it. But, the doctor said to stay off of it. does anyone know how long it will take to heal? Please only answer if you really know! Thanks, and merry Christmas!! Olivia
