does the LA department of health services really call people to inform them they may have an std?

I got a call today from a private number and they asked me for my birthdate confirmation first thing so I asked them what they were calling for and then I could confirm so the man said he was calling to inform me that I may have come in contact with an STD and I confirmed my birthdate for him and everything. I also asked for his department name and his name and his number which he gave me all of. I'm still weirded out though, is this a real thing?
