What can happen if I put my laptop in sleep mode and not shut it down for two days?

I had put my laptop in sleep mode. I again used it during the day for some time and provided full charge to it.After which I put it to sleep again.Exceeding a total time of two days in sleep mode now my laptop is not charging anymore. I dont know if there is any problem with the adapter or my laptop.... Please provide me some suggestions and if there is any solution for this problem.
