mytouch 4g only showing 2 of 5 screens?

I've restarted, updated, uninstalled any new apps, and finally just powered down and still: only 2 of the 5 screens are appearing. Instead, when I try to navigate between screens the home screen lags and although the dots closest to the soft keys show that it's gone to the 5th screen. Is it time to take the battery and/or memory card out? Any trouble shooting ideas will be greatly appreciated.
