Why is my friends cat suddenly attached to me?

my friend has had this cat for years and has known me for years but suddenly the past couple times I went to her house the cat just won't leave me alone it doesn't bother me I love animals and im more than happy to receive a cuddle from him it's just suddenly out of the blue could this mean anything?
