what does this quote mean, please?

This quote is from a movie. That's why I put this question here :) HE SAID: "I've always thought of it a bad friendship for you (talking to a female). But now that I think of it, I think it is worse for her." Does it mean he doesn't really value his friendship with her? Does it mean he thinks her friendship is bad for her only? Or what does it mean? I hope I made sense, thanks always xoxo Charlotte will pick a BA :)
