Will it really work in real life?

I watched a show today.And in the show a girl liked a guy.She made a fake dating account wrote her crush disguised as someone else.Made a place to meet him at.Then the next day the girl doesent show up.But the girl who likes him does.Then they go out bc the other girl never showed.Will that work in real life?It sounds so simple doesent it?
