Help with peeling hands?

Hi, I'm a 27 y/o F and for the last 4 months I've been experiencing peeling of the palm of my hands which is worsening. At first it was just a few small patches which I thought was due to weather change. Now thick layers of skin are peeling off and, particularly in my left hand, the skin is not renewing itself quicker enough and my hands are really sensitive and itchy. I've never had a problem to this extent before. Is there any OTC or other treatmentsI can use as I really don't like to see my doctor. Also for the past year my feet, again especially the left, are incredibly itchy. Could the two things be linked?
