Can your eyebrow piercing make your eye infected?

I've recently after a year removed my eyebrow piercing, it quickly closed, but I'm nervous an infection has set in. I can't see any visible signs of infection, but my eye underneath is larger than the other and a little itchy. Is it unrelated or am I just being paranoid?
