Will Exposed Film Still Develop? [read details.]?

I recently had a problem with my film rewind process. I wanted to know if the film rolled back or not because it sounded like it rewinded maybe 3 times or so. So I opened it, very briefly, just to find that the roll didn't rewind. It was at night, very lowlight area and it was towards the end of the roll. Will it be extremely damaged or will there be more burns? I'm looking for experimental shots but not to where it's like "is this even a picture?"
