Question #15218178

Is this a unique way on the "Waking up from a dream" opening to a story?

Basically I'm writing a ghost story series from the perspective of the ghosts. To start off, our hero wakes up, which is cliche. But he isn't really waking up by conventional terms; He died in his sleep, death caused by an outside force killing him by infiltrating his dreams, and wakes up a ghost in the middle of the night. How is that twist? A unique spin or just the same idea?
