Help me figure this out please...?

My friend just informed me that her period for the last 3 months has been weird, she just had her period 2 weeks ago and she started bleeding again thurday and she's still bleeding. She has been having back pain and its heavy. Could she possiably be haveing a miscarriage or what? Idk this just seems very strange to me.
