Smashed Finger help please?

About a year ago i smashed my finger between two 10 pound weights, it is now flat including my finger nail, the nail got tore off and my finger looks odd, if i tore the current nail off would that help, or what will help?? Thanks so much Thats the exact finger I smashed, did it ever get less ugly. Not trying to offend just mine is ugly!
