Can I learn how to use a sword?

I understand this is a really stupidish question, but I'm really interested in learning how to use a sword. Not just fencing, but like going to some guy for lessons like you would for guitar. And using practice wooden swords and like practice. I might just want to do this from all of the tv shows/ books I've read which have swords in it but I'm still interested in this. Does this still exist (in NY)
