need help downloading IOS 6!!?

i was going to download ios 6 from itunes onto my phone but it says i need 10.7 so itunes is telling me that 10.6.3 is the latest version and there is no updates so i was like fine i will do it on my phone... but it also is saying there are no updates 5.1.1 is the latest version... what do i do?!
