I'm 15 and scared to use a tampon...help?

Im 15 and I've had my period for about 3 years now and I'm tired of pads! There gross and I can't stand them. So I want to start using tampons....the only problem is I'm scared...I've tried to put one in a couple times but I can never get the whole thing in because I'm scared it'll get stuck or hurt. Does it hurt? And can it get stuck? also anything else I might need to know? Thxx
