Question #5350259

Is "Lucius" the source of "Lucas"?

Lucas is already in latin but it came from somewhere because the name started around in 1400 whilst Lucius was an ancient roman name was just wondering if Lucius is the source of the name Lucas today or what is the source? What would a guy with the surname Lucas be called in ancient rome?
