do people WANT to look orange or do they think they look brown?

so many people are fake tanning but are they actually going for the orange look do they realise thats what they look like do they think they look brown or natural? or do they just think orange is better than pale? im not saying all fake tanned people some do look tanned/a natural skin tone but some look orange coloured
