Is Ethiopia seriously still in 2005?

Okay, so I read on this website (OMGfacts.net) that Ethiopia goes by a different calendar to the rest of the world and I wasn't sure if this was true or not, so I googled it and apparently it does? A few websites confirm it... seriously, google it. So that means they are roughly 8 years behind the rest of the world o.o Can someone explain exactly what and why without the confusing language a lot of the websites use? thanks :)
