Heavy Postpartum Period?

This is my first cycle after having my daughter (almost 7 months now). It's been totally different from before I was pregnant. So far in the NINE days I've had it, I have soaked through 2 pairs of pants (including sweats), gone through super plus tampons and half a pad every few hours, and I can't even make it through the night in a tampon and a pad. I mentioned this at my dr appt yesterday, but should I be worried? How much longer should I let this continue before I schedule another dr appt? Before I was pregnant my cycles would last about 5 days on average and I never had to worry about going through a tampon. I've heard that the first cycle after having a baby is bad and I don't want to overreact, I'm just not sure what to do...
