What type of camera should I bring to Costa Rica?

I'm going to costa rica this summer, and I'm not sure if I should bring my DLSR (nikon), or my 35 mm film SLR (minolta) Or should I bring both? I wont be going with my family, and therefore will be responsible for carrying my things with my all the time. I was thinking of just taking my film SLR for artistic purposes, but will I miss out if I don't bring my DSLR? How safe is it there?
