Am I being fair to my boyfriend?

So my bf moved away a month & 1/2 ago 5 hours away. I'm still in high school & he graduated. he just found a job so he's trying to dave money when he gets it. I told him I'm only waiting 6-8 months for him to move back here permanently because to me i think thats enough time to save money, find a place to live, & get a job down HERE. Im not waiting around for longer than that because then to me it'll seem like it'll never happen. Am I being fair here??
