Buying a car in North Carolina?

I have never bought a car and interested in doing so soon, what are the costs at the dealership (i.e. taxes, financing, etc.) and then what are the costs that occur during ownership of the vehicle (i.e. taxes, tags, etc.)? I am not asking for specific numbers but what type of things will I be expected to pay?
