Question #7500050

Probability Problem dealing with expected value and other concepts?

64% of voters support candidate A in an upcoming election. We survey 900 voters chosen at random. Let Y denote the # of voters out of 900 surveyed voters who support candidate A and let p hat denote the proportion of voters out of the 900 surveyed voters who support candidate A. 1. What is the expected value of Y i.e. E(Y)? 2. What is the variance of Y i.e. what is Var(Y)? 3. What is the standard deviation of Y i.e. what is SD(Y)? 4. By useing a computer software package, what is the exact probability that at least 2/3 of the surveyed voters support candidate A i.e. what is P(Y greater than or equal to 600)?
