Can I take a prescription sleeping pill with a Xanax?

I just took .25 mg of Xanax about an hour ago because I'm having trouble sleeping. It isn't working so my mom gave mea half of one of her prescribed sleeping pills before she left for work. She was really rushed so I couldn't ask any questions. I think she said Is prospan or something? That's what it sounded like. Is this safe? I'm 17 btw, idk if that matters. I know you should never take someone else's prescription but I trust my mom wouldn't give me something that would hurt me lol. But I know it might make me kinda groggy tomorrow but idc, I have nothing to do. It'll be just as bad if I don't get any sleep at all. So is it actually safe to do? The Xanax is my prescription btw
