Home remedies for ingrown hair ?

I'd like to know if anyone has any home remedies for getting rid of and preventing ingrown hair. I have them all over my legs. I scar easy and I really wanna be able to wear shorts. I didn't always have them. I started getting them about a year and a half ago. I hate them. I've been exfoliating and not picking at them but they still appear. Please help. It would be helpful if someone answers that used to have the same problem. Thanks.
