Visa took the money back without my authorization... Is it legal ?

My company accept a payment from a customer with VISA, as a usual we called to VISA and asked for authorization number, 2 weeks after that, they realize the card was a stole card and just took the money back from my account. If they gave me a authorization number, I don't believe that they can do it. Somebody have any idea ??
