Why did my eyes get lighter?

Okay so since I was small I've had honey brown eyes, but now I've notice & my family too that my eyes have gotten lighter. They changed into this amber/chestnut color. I'm a teenager & I've seen the change about 3 years ago . They have this hint of greenish tone. I'm confused, don't your eyes & hair get darker the older you get??
