any tips for dealing with a dying parent?

I think my father may die soon. I don't know how to deal with this. I know it's not a new problem but it's new to me. His medications and pain keep him from really having any good last fun things together aside from watching TV & even that he doesn't really take any joy from, I think. I love my father & I know he loves me, but I don't know what else to do. It still doesn't make it any easier. I know he is in so much pain, the end will probably be a blessing for him, but not for me. :( I know it's selfish but I just wish he could stay with us. He's been a hardworking good man & deserved a better end than this. :(
