Tips for possibly pursuing a career in accounting?

So, I'm a Senior in High School and have been doing a lot of thinking about what I'd like to do in college and so on, and I'm taking more and more interest in accounting. Any fellow Accountants out there? Is the job boring? What does it take to be a good accountant? What do you get paid? What's the average starting salary for a new accountant? Is this a well acknowledged profession? Or is like the bottom step of the ladder in the business world? How do I know if this career is good for me? SORRY for so many questions!
