Careers in demand in cities like NYC or LA?

I am going to college in a year, and idk what I want to do, but I know where I want to be, and that's in a big busy city. I love Cali and NYC, and love to live there. I'm an outdoorsy girl and like hands on stuff. I have no interest sitting at a desk in some bank. I like humanitarian works, interior design, and travel. I'm not afraid to take chances, but need a career to pay the bills. I'm looking for some kind of medium. Can you help? Careers, majors, and/or internships. Some way to make it in the big cities!:)
