Pionus Parrots: Get a juvenile parrot or an adult?

So there's a juvenile baby that is 12 weeks, hand-fed and weaned. There is also another adult that is 1 to 2 years old. I like the idea of adopting a previously owned parrot and giving it a loving new home, but maybe it would be better to bond with a younger baby juvenile. What are your thoughts? Annie
