Dropped my iPod in soup now what?

About an hour ago I dropped my iPod touch in soup and dried it off with kitchen roll and I've just cleaned inside it with kitchen roll but I still havnt fixed the sound. There is no sound whatsoever but everything else works good. People say to put it in rice but its too late for that now isn't it? What can I do I can't afford a new one
