Did I have my period? after taking the pill late?

I took my pill 8 hours late a while ago. I later started cramping and bleeding more than my usual breakthrough bleeding. And the blood was often fresh unlike the dry blood I get from btb, however it was very very light. I had already skipped my period for over a month when this happened. Is it certain that this was my period?
