Why are Liverpool fans trying to rival with Man utd and lifting themselves from midtable & projecting...?

Themselves as a threat, they clearly arent. This isnt a troll question I understand there was history, but liverpool tends to be using that to become a top club when they are a midtable club in every possible way. I mean, realistically they are a midtable club who rank around 7th. How on earth does a midtable club's fans speak all day about Man utd ? New castle finished higher than them a season before lol, they dont talk so much.
