Wanting to buy Pokemon X/Y, but don't have a DS system. Which should I get?

I'm not a big handheld gamer, but I am a huge Pokemon fan. I'm planning on buying Pokemon X, but I don't have a DS system. Any suggestions on which I should get? I did some research on the 2DS, 3DS, and 3DS XL. 3D would be nice, but I don't think it would be that big of a difference. I'm looking to save as much money as possible, also. I bought the first generation DS, but hardly ever played it and I ended up giving it away. I doubt I'll ever play anything expect Pokemon on this next DS system I get (MAYBE SSBB). Which DS do you guys think I should get. Also, is the 3D in the new generation of Pokemon anything to marvel at? Because I don't think it would take away from my gaming experience if I just got the 2DS and played Pokemon on that. I really have no idea about the new generation of DS systems, so if anyone could guide me in the right direction, that would be great.
