hair dying tips? ideas? thoughts?

alright so i have like short medium length strawberry blonde hair (like2-3 inches below my shoulder) i've never dyed it. i want to do something different without ruining my naturally hair color. Highlights? tips? ombre? what do you guys think? what color would work best with my hair color. btw i have a light complexion, blue eyes. let me know what you think(:
