Question #11200395

Outside lighting, earthed or not?

I am replacing some outside (bulkhead) lights. The ones I have bought are not earthed, but now that I have taken the cover off the old ones I've discovered that they are earthed. So, what do I do with the existing earth on the old lights? The new ones state they don't need earth but I'm going to have a spare wire. Do I just insulate it and forget about it? Thanks
