Afrikaans and English Test so hard?Why?

Well today I wrote an Afrikaans test and I speak afrikaans.I studied hard for the test and when I wrote the test.. I was like...What the heck is going on here.I understand why math is importent and chemestry and so on..bud why are Afrikaans and english hard?At work my partner or boss arnt going to ask me what is the anthonym of that or the sinonym of that..why do we have to learn it now? Anybody maybe knows or can tel me more.
